Justification of the method for determining the water output of an internal fire-fighting water pipe

Аnnotation
The devices for conducting tests on the water output of internal fire-fighting water supply were analyzed and it was determined that not only the accurate use of the device is important, but also the measurement at the hours and in places with the worst water supply. It was shown that the test result is not the actual amount of water for fire extinguishing, in the case when, when determining the time and place of testing, preference is given to the convenience of the process, rather than to creating the worst water supply conditions during the tests. It was also determined that to increase the reliability of the obtained results, it is necessary to extend the test period in time, which leads to an unjustified increase in water consumption during the tests. The relationship between the readings of the device’s pressure gauge during the tests and the water consumption in the network was investigated. By con-sidering the Bernoulli equations and the continuity of the flow, the reliability of the result when us-ing devices with a pressure gauge was substantiated, and it was proved that the result will correspond to the actual consumption only under the condition of water drainage. It has been established that when using devices without water drainage, the pressure gauge records increased pressure values, the use of which in calculations does not give the actual result of water flow and the length of the com-pact part of the jet. A method of improving the device for determining the water output of the net-work is proposed, which is based on a scheme for constructing a device for conducting tests with im-proved characteristics that allow increasing the accuracy of measurements simultaneously with a de-crease in the amount of water for measurements, which makes the procedure itself more convenient, and the results of calculations of water flow and the length of the compact part of the jet actual. The results obtained can be used when conducting tests on the water output of the internal fire-fighting water supply system and evaluating the results from the point of view of ensuring the conditions for successful fire extinguishing.
